M.L.E.S. Member Roundhouse

Check out the ongoing projects and some of the equipment the M.L.E.S. members own and are working on. Several types of 1.5" and 1.6" locomotives include Live Steam ( Coal, Oil or Propane powered ), Electric, Electric-Diesel, Gas/Hydraulic-Diesel. There is also a wide variety of rolling stock for our members train sets.

Ken Rodig   - This is a new prototype of the famous SW1 switcher locomotive. Four gear case axle drives provide plenty of tractive motive power on this compact 1.5" scale electric powered locomotive. The 110 watt sound system provides the most realistic effects of an actual SW1 diesel locomotive. Road colors represent the "Ironwood System" which was noted for their longtime rail service to the paper industry.

Tom Krawczyk   - This gas-hydraulic powered 1.6" scale Burlington GP-38 diesel locomotive is current undergoing rebuilding and final detailing. Original built from scratch by two past M.L.E.S. club members, "this project is taking more time than I anticipated". Final road and color and detail scheme is planned to be new one for our railroad. Watch for more progress.

Bob Calhoon   - If you stop out at Railroad Park on almost any Sunday during the summer you will see Bob Calhoon's Shay. This oil burning logging locomotive was geared for power and running on rough track. It always seems to get a work out at the park.

Michael Michaud   - This steam powered 1.5" scale Wabash Mogul is the main motive power for the Kinsman Bayside and Western Railroad. Original built as a coal burner it has been recently changed to propane. The Mogul was orginally built by Walter Ringe a former M.L.E.S. club member.

Brad Smith   - This very nicely done model of a 1.5 inch scale
2-4-2T Baldwin steam locomotive was scratch built by Brad. It is propane fired and can be seen running most Sundays throughout the summer.

Jim Wolf   - This Cannonball "Little Gasser" owned by Jim is actually a "little electric". The locomotive was converted to use one of Tom Artzberger's electric drive systems. This system has proven to be very successful. Jim has spent many trips going around Railroad Park enjoying his locomotive.

Paul Weigand   - The "Goose" as it is known by was scratch built by Paul. He installed an electric drive and control system in it. The unit runs on 24 volts and has two batteries inside. Easy to run and control, by far is a favorite for kids of all ages to run.

Dave Gehrke   - Heading out of the station over the bridge we have Dave's Green Bay and Western RS-20's numbered 305 and 308. Each locomotive has one electric motor per axle which run at 24 volts. There are four batteries which power this locomotive. On a full charge this train will run all day pulling quite a load.

Wayne Friedrich

Dave Reinert   - Dave's BNSF GP-60 can be seen running out at Railroad Park almost every Sunday.

Don Meinders   - Don's RS diesel locomotive making the rounds during his open house.

Jim Radmann

Bob Calhoon   - Bob is seen showing off his newly aquired Climax locomotive he has just added to the roster.

Ken Rodig   - Nick Rodig is seen at the throttle of his Dad's Southern Pacific Class T32 4-6-0. Built by Tom Artzberger in the early 1970's it can still be seen running out at Railroad Park today.

Sean Durian   - Sean having fun on his rail bus, built by his Dad, Steward.

Stewart Durian   - In Memory....

Alan Fanke   - Al's new SW2 switcher locomotive for 2010 that was built at Kenosha Tool & Engineering. This is the third Engine added to the roster of about 14 service cars at High Oaks Railroad.

Tom Budny   - Tom's SW almost complete. Tom has spent a lot of time engineering the electronics for this locomotive. Definitely worth taking a look if you ever have a chance.

Daniel Steingraber

Perry Schulz   - Perry's 4-6-2 Pacific is under construction. It has had a couple of test runs out at Railroad Park which have been fairly succesful. We hope to see Perry steaming around soon.

Brad Smith   - Brad's newest diesel locomotive is a model of a New Haven HH-660. It was added to the roster in August of 2008.

Dave Gehrke   - Dave's Fox River Valley chop nose GP9 is the latest addition to his quickly growing fleet. It has been added to the roster for the summer of 2009.
